Welcome to Maharaj Indian Grill, a vibrant and lively restaurant located in the heart of Chicago. Offering a wide range of Indian delicacies, Maharaj Indian Grill prides itself on providing high-quality food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere.
As a food reviewer of Restaurant World, I had the pleasure of experiencing the flavors and aromas of Maharaj Indian Grill. The menu is extensive, with options for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. From vegetarian appetizers like Bhel Puri and Aloo Tikki to non-vegetarian delights like Amritsari Fish Fry and Chicken Lollipops, there is something for everyone at Maharaj Indian Grill.
One of the standout dishes that I tried was the Bhindi Masala, which featured garden-fresh okra sautéed with onions, tomatoes, and a blend of spices. The flavors were rich and satisfying, and the okra was cooked to perfection. Another highlight was the Chef's Tasting Recommendations, which included a variety of tandoori specialties and curries. The Tandoori Shrimp and Lamb Chops were particularly delicious, with each bite bursting with flavor.
What sets Maharaj Indian Grill apart is not just the delicious food, but also the attention to detail in presentation and service. The staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring that every customer has a memorable dining experience. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, blending traditional Indian elements with modern touches.
Overall, Maharaj Indian Grill is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Indian cuisine in a vibrant and welcoming setting. Whether you're a fan of vegetarian dishes or crave non-vegetarian delicacies, Maharaj Indian Grill has something for every palate. I highly recommend trying the Chef's Tasting Recommendations for a true culinary journey through Indian flavors.
Best mango lassi and best sizzling lamb chops. Full of flavor. The ambiance felt very authentic with the bed cots. We stopped in prior to a show and the staffs were very kind to have our food delivered promptly. A must try if you are in the loop.
Food was the star of the show. Very fresh and full of flavor. I was happily surprised with the spice level and quality of the okra in the bhindi masala. Service was wonderful, very kind and attentive servers. They somehow convinced us to get 2 separate orders of naan which is not a terrible thing! The restaurant was extremely cute and clean. It was a little off putting that the servers just stand there and kind of stare in the direction of all the patrons but I understand that's how they have such amazing service. Can't wait to come back and try this again!
We've tried a few Indian restaurants in the neighborhood, and this one is our favorite so far by far. We tried Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Vindaloo, both of which were fantastic. Our servers Noha and Kranti were very attentive and helpful. They helped us pick an appropriate recommendation on the spice level too. We will definitely be back.
Food and service were great. Best naan I've ever had. Noha and Krunal were friendly and attentive.
Great experience overall at Maharaj! We came in for a quick late lunch, and were seated immediately. The interior is a mix of casual and formal dining. Waiter staff was attentive. We got a chicken lollipop and a Maharaj mix combo. The chicken lollipops were good, crispy and light. The sauce was similar to a sweet and sour sauce, which was a little unexpected, but overall good. I loved the Maharaj mix, especially for the value. You get a dal dish, butter chicken, a few pieces of tandoori chicken and a few pieces of kabob, naan, rice, and dessert, all for slightly more than the price of a regular entree with naan. This was more than enough food for 2. All the food tasted good. Not incredible, but solid for indian food for sure. Will be back if craving indian food in the area!
The food was excellent and the staff was very helpful. The ambience is very homey and the eclectic vibe can't be ignored. Shahul is an excellent host. Top notch bloke !! The Indian beer was refreshing. Ebe.
Super satisfying! The quality of an Indian restaurant is so dependent on its naan. The naan here is fluffy and buttery, exactly the way you would want it. We got the butter chicken and the bhindi. While butter chicken was good, the standout here was the bhindi. There's a tendency to overcook the okra, but here's it's perfectly done. I would go back to try some of their other dishes. Also the restaurant itself is cute with traditional Indian seating mixed with a more modern decor.
You know it's going to be good when it's an Indian restaurant and all the customers and staff are Indian!! We came here on July 4 without a resy but only waited about 20 minutes. You need to come and get their dinner combo for one. For $25 you can get two full size (and delicious) spicy meat and daal curry, a sizzling plate of grilled meats, rice, and naan! We also got the biryani. We didn't know how big the portions would be, but the waitress was so sweet that she told us we'd be ordering too much. She kept checking up on us and asking if the food was enough, and we felt so big backed for even have considering ordering more before the food came. All of the food was amazing and well spiced. Standouts were the spicy meat curry and the lamb kebab in the grilled plate. Definitely add Maharaj to your Chicago itinerary!
